Australia Day

I had to work in the morning and so did Tim. We asked to leave early so we could join in on the celebrations. I finished at about 11.30am and went straight to the bar. I had to have a beer before 12.00pm!!! I had to wait for a while for Tim to finish but we eventually got out of there and went home.
We got home and had a few cans and got a call at about 3.00pm from Cam and Jim who went on the pub crawl at Mammoth. We picked them up from the village in Jack’s car and they were trashed! It was hilarious! Cam said he was boarding in a wife beater and it was the coldest he’s ever been. By the sounds of it……it was a great day.
Anyway we came back and sat around for a while smashing cans and singing very loudly to some great aussie music. One of the American guys from next door heard us yelling and screaming so he decided to pop around. We got him to drive us to the pub where the Australia day party was been held, Lakanuki.
We got there about 5.30pm I think and it wasn’t too packed at this stage. As the night went on it got really really packed and most of the people were Australian. There were guys on stage with their tops off, a lot of Aussie Aussie Aussie chants, an Aussie beachball being thrown around, meat pies for dinner, which were really really nice, Aussie beer (even though it was Tooheys New it was still good!).
It was a top night. I think the pictures speak for themselves. I sure did have a good time, as did everyone.
A big thank you to the Ferlazzos, Kristine and Anne. The Australia T-shirt was perfect and so were the tattoos and boxer shorts. I wore my Aussie soccer jersey at work all day too.......no pics though :-(

Speak soon!!!

Videos from Today

Hi,

Wow! Today was amazing……probably the best days I have ever had snowboarding. It keeps getting better! :-)
Cam, Tim, Adam (a guy from next door) and I went to June for the day. It was amazing. No one was there: It was beautiful. We rode chair 4 all day pretty much by ourselves. We had untouched powder tree runs all day. It doesn’t get better than that!
It wasn’t a full day because we quit pretty early. It really takes it out of you. We started at about 10.30am and finished up at about 3.00pm.
Here are some pictures and videos for you to be very jealous over, lol.

New Snowboard

Last week I bought a brand new snowboard: A 2006 Ride Timeless 156. It is really nice and I got it very cheap. I paid US$200 instead US$500 which is retail. It rides really well compared to my old board. It is really stiff so it’s good for going fast and also good for riding pow. Here’s some pictures of my new board.
One really cool thing about the board is that it has a small letter t in between the bindings that is see through. So when the sun shines on one side of the board it glows on the other side. It is very pimp! :-)
It’s weird how this board and my last and both red on top and yellow on bottom. Red goes faster, I guess…….
There’s also a pic of the boots I bought when I got here. Thanks to the guys who paid for them. They are awesome! Very very light and super comfy now. It took a while for me to wear them in but now that I have, I love them!

GNAR GNAR POW POW!!!!!!

Speak soon, cya!

Random photos from Tim

Here’s some random photos that I have stolen off Tim.

There’s one of a lake which we pass on the way to work every day. It’s really big and beautiful. I’m not sure what it’s called, but yeah it’s nice!
There’s one of me taking some video footage with Tim’s camera.
There’s also one of James (a friend of James and Tim’s) with his girlfriend. They stayed with us for 3 or 4 days a couple of weeks ago.
Then there’s one of Cam in the fag bag and one of me and Cam.

Just Another Day At Work

Today, Jim and Cam had the day off and they came and snowboarded at June. In the afternoon I was at the top of chair 3 and Tim was at the top of chair 2, so we were right next to each eachother. We all had a huge snowball fight and mucked around for about an hour included Jim and Cam. We were doing handstands and Cam was jumping from the shack with a funny look on his face (Funny photo that one). It was good because it made time go by really fast. Shane had to come and tell us to come and tell us to stop throwing snowballs though because we were throwing them right near windows and we hit a few. Whoops! Luckily the snow wasn’t very hard, lol.

There’s also a very sexy photo I took of myself. I’m such a poser! And there’s a nice one of me doing a sick slide. Hahaha.

End Of An Era

Today was a pretty easy day at work. A little busy but nothing compared to the weekend. We thought we’d go to Jack’s work, the Ocean Wok, and have a few drinks. He bartends there a few nights a week. We rocked up there and the place was shut so I called him and he was across the road getting pissed. They just decided to close and go and get pissed at Grumpy’s, a sports bar across the road.
We played pool, drank pitchers (jugs) of Miller’s High Life and ate popcorn till about 2 in the morning. I have no idea why but things really got out of hand quickly. Everyone went really crazy. It was a messy but very fun night. We ended up stealing about 6 beer glasses, lots of popcorn bowls, a big menu and a corona tin. Hahahaha. We need all the cutlery we can get so we don’t have to do the washing up very often.
Anyway we ended up home somehow and we had a group of us drinking in our room. We were all very loud and roudy by this stage. All of a sudden Cam had the brilliant idea to knock down the tinny wall. Being extremely drunk, everyone agreed this was a brilliant idea. We went nuts and starting climbing all over the kitchen knocking down the tinny wall. We threw cans at it. It was great fun!! Some got hit with a full can, I have no idea who threw that. Everything ended up everywhere. There was beer everywhere too from the ends of the cans which was pretty gross. The pictures don’t really do it justice. There is a lot more cans up top and around the whole apartment. It is going to be a huge ass cleanup but it was worth it. We haven’t decided what we are going to do next but I doubt it’ll come even close to matching the famous tinny wall from the Number 1 Snowgoose apartment.

Cam’s birthday is the day before mine and his mates gave him this tremendous fag bag skiing outfit for his birthday. They said they’d give him $100 if he got pictures of him in it at the top of the mountain. The problem is though it’s a kid’s size 12. Here’s a picture of Tim trying to squeeze in it. with Vinnie (a guy from No. 2 Snowgoose next door) looking rather gay behind him. That has to be one of the gayest photos I’ve seen. There’s also a photo of Cam and one of me trying to fit into it somewhere. I think someone else took those photos though. I’ll try and get them off them.

There’s also a photo of the view down the mountain with my new board in it. I like that photo! :-)

Freezing Temperatures

Well we woke on Sunday morning to be greeted by between 1 and 2 feet of snow. Awesome! Just wait it gets better. I worked into work and my boss, Shane, tells me he has a surprise for me. I was a little bit worried actually. He asked me if I could work till around 9.00pm that night. I was like “Goddamn it, No” in my head but I said yes anyway. Then he tells me I don’t have to start till 12pm. My eyes lit up. Powder day! First tracks! Does it get better?
So me and Alex (another dude that was also working like with me) spent the morning riding in the deep deep powder. It was up to my hips and it was glorious! We went did a few trees runs and mainly just stayed on the black runs. OMG! It was amazing! I love powder.
Come 12pm, I was aching all over. Riding in pow gives you a real workout. And my back hurt too because I had a big fall where I tumbled and kind of twisted my back in a way it’s not supposed to be twisted. It’s getting heaps better now, I can hardly feel it. I thought I hurt it bad. :-|
Speaking of powder today (18 Jan) is absolutely unreal. It probably snowed about a foot last night and I think I’ve counted less than 30 or 40 people here. So the powder is going to last all day! I’ve already had 2 runs on the clock. I can’t believe I’m getting paid for this shit! Hahaha. The last run I had was through the trees through Sunrise and Schatzi. Unbelievable!!!!
Anyway, back to the story, lol. I worked chair 1 which is how everyone gets up the mountain. The mountain was putting on a dinner for some Christian group. There was probably about 100 of them total. All I had to do was help them on the chair to get up and sit around for a couple of hours and then help them off the lift at the end. Easy! They provided dinner as well. Lasagne! Hmmm……it was nice!
These Christians were pretty funny. They were a young group. Probably all between 15 and 35. They did silent karaoke which is where someone is listening to an iPod and has to sing but no one else can hear the music just the person singing. It was pretty funny. They were all in hysterics. Then suddenly someone stood up and started praying so they all shut up and joined him. It was full on. They looked like they were having a real good time though.
That night it was so unbelievably cold. I had 5 layers on top and was still cold. I had thermals, a t-shirt and 3 jackets. It was hovering around 0°F which is about -17°C. I tried to take some pics to show how cold it was but you can’t really tell. The steam from my breath looked like I was constantly smoking. Haha.
After that huge day, I got a lift home from Shane and went straight to sleep. I got home about 10.30pm. Crazy day!

I just had my lunch break today and did some more tree runs. It is so much fun. I wish I could video tape myself going through them. I just can’t describe it. I didn’t bring my camera today……I so should’ve! Hopefully I’ll get out here tomorrow and take some pics through the trees. If not then I will hopefully get some Friday when Tim, Cam and I all have a day off. Visiability is starting to get a bit bad but this morning it was pristine! It was snowing but everything was clear as day. Hopefully the snow doesn’t stop at all today! Fingers crossed. :-)

14 January 2006

Hi guys!

Hey guys,

It’s Wednesday and I’m at work writing updates on my laptop. These will probably be added tonight or at the latest tomorrow. I’m doing about 5 at once seen as I haven’t had that much time of late.
Sorry I haven’t been writing much on here lately. When I’m on the computer I have been busy replying to emails people have sent. Thanks to everyone sending emails, they are greatly appreciated. Keep them coming!!!

Thursday I spent most the day sleeping due to been very very hungover. Me and Cameron went to Whiskey’s Wednesday night and things really escalated quickly. Before we knew it we were blind drunk. Very good night though. From what I remember we were having a lot of fun. The ladies were lovin’ us!
I felt so sick on Thursday, I got up at about 10am but everything was spinning and I was feeling very ill. I went back to sleep and didn’t wake up till about 2pm or 3pm. I couldn’t believe it because I have been regularly getting up at 6.30am to go to work. Hahahaha.

Friday. Tim, Cam and I went snowboarding for most the day at June. Awesome day!
Cam got a speeding ticket on the way there. He was going 15 miles over the limit. Not good! We took a picture of him talking to the cop, lol.
It was really busy that day because it was Martin Luther King weekend or something. The car park (sorry, parking lot) was full as you can see in one of the photos. Even a busy day at June doesn’t bother anyone. The lines were minimal. The most we had to wait to get on a lift was less than a minute. We spent a lot of the day in the park hitting rails and jumps. Very fun!!
Friday night was also a very special moment and a milestone of the trip.
THE TINNY WALL WAS COMPLETE!!! Please admire this gorgeous picture. We are all very proud of ourselves. :-)

Saturday. This was another lazy day. Tim and I spent the day doing some shopping and stuff. We had KFC for lunch. Have a look at the size of the Pepsi Tim got. Ridiculous!!! It’s half a gallon! Hahaha. We bought it so we could use it as a penny jar. It has a fricken handle!!!!!! lol. Later we went to Cam’s work at Main Lodge Mammoth because we both needed to buy some new snowboarding socks. It was really busy today too so when we went to jump on the bus we saw a line which was a couple of hundred metres long. We thought “stuff that” and went back up to Cam’s shop. He was finishing soon so we were hoping we’d catch a lift with one of his work mates. They had a really really good day, they made something like $50,000 so the boss was going to take all of them out for drinks. Tim and I tagged along. His boss ended up buying everyone about 4 rounds of drinks including me and Tim. After having them we thought we’d head home. Then we heard there had been a crash on the road and it was closed until furthur notice. It took about an hour for it to open and by this stage we were quite pissed. We got a lift home with someone. There was 5 guys and 2 girls in the car. Very very squashy! After some persuading and pushing we made the two girls kiss. Hahahaha. It was gold!
