148mph winds!!!

Just heard the top speed recorded at the top of Mammoth was 148mph. That's 238kph!!!!!! WTF!! Everything at Mammoth has closed for the day. Jack, who works at Mammoth as a liftie is on his way home which is good. We need to do shopping and we can use his car.

I'm glad I'm here inside.

Crazy Weather!

I hear you guys have been getting some pretty unreal weather over there. 42 degrees the other day!! That sounds awesome.

We here have been getting some pretty unreal weather. It has been really really windy all week. Most days some of the chairlifts have been closed due to dangerous winds. One day at June Mountain they had a 115mph(185kph) gush of wind........absolutely crazy!!!!!

Today, Mammoth has apparently closed every lift due to 100mph(160kph) winds. It sucks because it is mine and Tim's days off today and it would have been good to go snowboarding.

And also Reno a nearby town has been flooded. I hope that doesn't happen here..........lol.

Okay. Catch up with you guys soon. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. :-)

Boxing Day

Well it did end up snowing on Christmas over here, which was pretty special. It snowed at night, which made Boxing Day really good. There was plenty of snow and I got heaps and heaps of ride breaks. I think I ended up with over 10 runs. Awesome!!
My snowboarding is getting better. I'm a bit scared sometimes because I know at the speed I'm going if I fall I'll definitely hurt myself. Meh! I'll just have to keep getting better and better.
Anyway I got home from work (the other dudes finished a bit earlier) and everyone there were heaps of people in our apartment ready to go out. I was ready for a quite night, hahaha. So we went out really early at about 7pm and went to a place called Dublin's. They had $1 pints and $0.25 chicken wings. Fantastic!!! Although the service was pathetic the food and beer was good!
We then went to Lakanuki's (sp?) which is where we have been going quite a bit. Fun place and they have Karioke on Thursday nights (I have to sing at least once while I'm here). At this stage we were all really drunk.
Apparently we got pizza and went to this other place, The Clock Tower. I can vaguely remember.
The walk home was definitely one to remember. You can probably tell by the pictures. I have many many more……….lol
So far in total I have over 500 photos……I wish I could share all of them…..actually most of them.

Bishop

Here’s a picture on the drive home from Bishop that I took with my new camera which I infact bought in Bishop.
Bishop is a pretty shitty place. Tim and I spent the whole day there and by the end of it, we just wanted to get out of there. Most the people were rude and didn’t want to help whatsoever. It was a hole of a place.
I bought my camera at a specialized camera store. I thought they’d have a good selection. I asked to look at the digital cameras and they only had 3. Lucky one of them was okay but how can a camera store have 3 bloody digital cameras. Idiots!!!
Nice picture anyway! lol

We thought we’d get really drunk that night. It was insane!! Great night.
Here are a couple of pictures. One random one and one of the vodka watermelon. We poured 1.75L of vodka into the watermelon over a few days and then cut it up. It was $10 vodka so it wasn’t the best stuff. But it tasted quite nice. I ate a lot of it. I felt extremely sick the next day.

Riding in Powder. I love it!

Hi everyone,

Today was fantastic! Beautiful day. A little overcast, but there wasn’t any snow so it was good conditions for some riding. I got about 5-6 rides in so it was great.
There was still heaps of powder to indulge in from the other day. I haven’t ridden in powder for at least probably 3 years so it took a bit of getting used to but god damn it was fun!! It kills your back leg though and tires you out soo quickly. I need to get in shape after all that Weinerschnitzel, Carls Jr, Burger King, Subway, KFC and other junk I have eaten.
I’m not eating during my lunch break or breaks ever again. Normal breaks are 15 mins and lunch is 30 mins so that works out to a lot of riding because the lifts are soo fast. You are allowed to eat while working if it isn’t busy so that is sweet!!! I'll have to start making my lunch the night before and take it into work.
I did have one big fall today. I was riding through the pow and the nose of my board dug in and I went tumbling into the soft snow. It’s good that it doesn’t hurt when you fall but I had snow all over me.
Allright dudes and dudettes, I really should go and do some washing. Still haven’t done any! lol

Catch.

Photos!!!

Well it’s exactly one week until Christmas and we have finally had some much needed snow. Bad thing is, I had to work in the snow storm today. It was pretty fun but I had the job of brushing snow off the lift seats all day. It was tiring and I wasn’t really up for it seen as I was living on about 4 hours sleep. Long story (email for details).
I have finally got some photos from here to show you guys. There are some from Manhattan beach in LA, some from 2 days ago when it was sunny and some from last night and today when we have had this storm.
Right now it’s still actually snowing. It has been snowing for at least 24 hours now. Brilliant!
Hopefully I’ll go riding in my lunch break tomorrow and get some freshies!!!
I haven’t boarded in powder for a long long time. Can’t wait!!!

So anyway. Anything exciting happening in Melbourne? Let me know if there’s anything of importance.

Allright I’ll let you enjoy these photos. :-)

Speak real soon!!!

P.S. The "Aussie Pride" pic was taken to replicate the one made in Sydney after those riots.

Also the place with the US flag out the front is where I am staying. It's really nice!

And you can also see my "June Mountain" uniform in a few of those pictures. They spent $80,000 upgrading the uniforms this year and they are really really nice!!!!
